WELCOME: CAMERA & IMAGE AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2008  Striking a positive cord We seem to have struck a positive cord with some of our readers who have taken the time to respond so positively to our previous edition. As I mentioned in a previous editorial, we have been missing out on a few good opportunities. One of the opportunities is now being addressed in the guise of the new Sony Alpha, Back to Basics feature. I have a very strong background in photographic theory, having been a photography lecturer for a number of years. Although this series may appear daunting to the absolute beginner, I would urge you to read it. Once you finally come to terms with the tutorials, you will be amazed at how your photography will start improving. Based on your responses, these features are definitely here to stay. I am quite open to your suggestions and would urge you to contact us with any suggestions or feedback you may have. We are not able to bring you the Beyond the limit feature in this edition as we are still waiting for Cathy O Dowd to get back to us. If she does, the feature should appear in the next edition. In hindsight it has been a blessing as, once again, this edition is absolutely jam-packed with good photographic stuff. We have portfolios and features aplenty. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Peter Bendheim for his submissions. Peter has indicated that he is quite prepared to contribute to us on a regular basis. Peter tells us that he has been receiving such positive comments concerning Camera&image from his colleges.
